Privacy Policy
App: Jianhe - Private Files Manager
Effective date: October 5, 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Jianhe - Private Files Manager (“we,” “us,” or “the App”) handles information when you use our iOS application. By using the App, you agree to this Policy.
On the App Store the App may appear as “Jianhe - Private Files Manager.” On your Home Screen the App may appear as “Jianhe” (and as “缄盒” / “緘盒” in Chinese locales). These refer to the same application.
The App is a private file manager that stores files you import in an encrypted box on this device. It is free to use with limits and may show advertisements. You may optionally purchase one-time in-app purchases to remove ads, or to upgrade to Pro (higher limits, ads off, and additional export/share features).
Information We Collect
We do not require you to create an account. We do not intentionally collect your name, email address, or payment card details inside the App (purchases are processed by Apple). We do not operate a cloud locker for the files inside your box.
Depending on how you use the App and your device settings, we may process:
1. Files in your box (on device)
Examples: photos, videos, audio, documents, and other files you import; folder names; original filenames; thumbnails; and related metadata stored locally. Files are encrypted on this device. They stay on this device unless you choose to export, share, save a copy to Photos, or restore from a backup file you control. We do not upload the contents of your box to our servers.
2. Box PIN, recovery password, and keys (on device)
You set a box PIN and a recovery password. The PIN is stored only as a one-way digest in the device Keychain. The recovery password is not stored; it is used to wrap a local master key. We cannot read your PIN, recovery password, or file contents from our side. If you forget both the PIN and the recovery password, we cannot recover the files. Erasing the box on this device deletes local keys and encrypted files so you can start over; a backup you previously exported can still restore only if you still know the recovery password.
3. Backups you export (your file)
If you export a box backup (a .jianhebackup file), that file is written where you save it (for example Files). We do not receive a copy unless you attach it to Feedback yourself. Keep the backup and the recovery password; both are required to restore on a new device.
4. Optional Wi-Fi import (local network)
If you use Wi-Fi import, this device can receive files from a computer or another device on the same local network. Transfer happens on your LAN. We do not relay those files through our servers or the public internet.
5. Device and diagnostic information
If you send Feedback through the in-app mail sheet, the message may include app version, iOS version, and device model to help us troubleshoot. You control whether to send the email.
6. Advertising identifiers and ad-related data
If ads are shown, Google AdMob (and related Google advertising services) may collect or receive advertising identifiers (such as the IDFA, subject to your ATT choice), device/technical information, coarse location (typically inferred, for example from IP), and interaction data for ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention. Where required, we present consent / privacy messaging (including Google’s UMP) before personalized ads. Vault file contents are not sent to AdMob as your private files.
7. Analytics
After you agree to our in-app privacy prompt, we may use Umeng analytics to understand aggregate app usage and stability (including device identifiers, product interaction, and diagnostic/performance data the SDK may collect). If you decline, we do not initialize analytics for that purpose as described in the App. Vault file contents are not sent to Umeng as your private files.
8. Purchase status
Apple StoreKit provides us with entitlement information needed to unlock “Remove Ads” and “Upgrade Pro,” and to restore purchases. We do not receive your full payment card number.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide the box, import, folders, preview, backup/restore, Wi-Fi import, export/share, and related features
- Show, measure, and improve advertising (unless ads are removed)
- Analyze aggregate usage and improve reliability (when analytics is enabled)
- Respond to Feedback you send us
- Comply with law and protect against abuse
Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share or allow processing by:
- Apple — App Store distribution, in-app purchases, Photos/Files pickers, system share sheet, and system privacy controls
- Google (AdMob / UMP) — advertising and consent tooling when ads are enabled
- Umeng — analytics when you have agreed
- Service providers that host legal pages or support email
- Authorities when required by law
When you export, share, save to Photos, or send files over Wi-Fi import, the destination app, device, or service receives what you send under that party’s own terms. We do not operate a public feed of your box.
Third parties process data under their own policies. Please review:
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Apple Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
Your Choices
- Tracking (ATT): On supported iOS versions you can allow or deny App Tracking Transparency. You can change this later in iOS Settings.
- Ad personalization / privacy options: Where available (including privacy options surfaced in Settings), you can manage ad-related preferences. Purchasing Remove Ads or Pro stops ad display in the App.
- Analytics consent: The App asks before enabling analytics. You may decline.
- Photos / library access: The App only accesses photos and videos you choose to import, and only writes to Photos if you export a decrypted copy there. You can change photo permissions in iOS Settings.
- Delete local data: You can delete files or folders in the App, erase this box (which wipes local keys and encrypted files), or delete the App. Uninstalling does not automatically delete data held by Apple, Google, or analytics providers under their systems, and it does not delete backup files you saved outside the App.
Children’s Privacy
Jianhe is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information (for example by emailing support), contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Data Retention
On-device files, keys, and preferences remain until you delete them, erase the box, or delete the App. Ad and analytics partners retain data according to their policies and legal requirements. Feedback emails are retained as needed to respond and improve the App. Exported backups remain wherever you stored them until you delete those files.
Security
Files in the box are encrypted on this device. We take reasonable measures to protect information. Encryption and the box PIN are not a guarantee against every form of device compromise, lost backups, or forgotten passwords. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot reset your recovery password or decrypt your files for you.
International Processing
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Files in your box are stored on your device unless you move them.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” above will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
